A little while ago I learned how to build Godot from the source code. That was a really fun learning project and inspired me to try learning some more new things. So I’ve started learning the C++ language. Current topic of the day, char arrays!

I just made another patch update to my game demo Dark Mart that I’ve been documenting while I explore game development. This patch includes an updated map layout with new environment object sprites, more user interface sprites, and some general fixes.

Today I’m getting back into some game development with Godot by learning about shaders. This one is created from a combination of highlight and outline shaders that were posted on godotshaders.

Today I’m working on Dark Mart dev log 5! I think it will be ready this week. Patch 1.3.1, which this dev log is about, is already up on itch. It took me a couple weeks to catch up on finishing the video. Topics will include godot navigation and getting started on user interface improvement tasks.

My website really needs a major update… it’s been a long time since I’ve worked on it and I have learned a lot since then. I can see many improvements to do. But the best I can do right now is updating it with the nothing lasts release content!

A new Cyborganic 3D design and music production project is coming this week.

Cyborganic - Nothing Lasts

Dark Mart patch 1.3.1 is now uploaded! And yet there is still so much that needs to be done! But I’m trying to remember to have fun, share my progress, learn from my mistakes and celebrate the small incremental improvements. More to come soon.

One of the big problems I faced while trying to write a tile based pathfinding system myself in Godot was efficiency. Struggling to improve the code I wrote with the limited knowledge I have can be frustrating but it can also be rewarding and a good opportunity for growth.

Another update on this animation I’ve been working on with Blender. I added more variations in number sequences for the vertical lines. Also varied the falling speeds and added some extra glow for the leading numbers.

I had to take some downtime this weekend to catch up on my non-cyborganic related things. The challenges of life and having a physical body and whatnot 🤖. Im looking forward to making some more progress this week. I’ve got a new patch for Dark Mart that I’m testing out and I’ll be uploading it soon.
