I may not be a sound designer by trade anymore, but old habits die hard.

Playing a lot of Virtua Fighter recently, and I wanted to have a go at recreating their traditional kung-fu movie type impact sounds in an effort to combat the 'phantom limb' syndrome I'm feeling with my previous life.

This is my first redesign in a while. Hard to stay motivated in the face of continual rejections and the looming end of my career in audio and video games.

After completing a code bootcamp, my initial goal was to delve deeper into Javascript.

However old habits die hard, so I followed a tutorial to make this small game instead of something useful!

So my two biggest post-redundancy activities have drawn to a close this week.

I completed a code bootcamp and finished my first run of shows as an audio tech for the local theatre production of Blackadder II.

Had a fantastic time with both groups, and met many wonderful people!

I just saw that we can upload videos here finally! He is an old #gameaudio redesign I did way back at the start of the pandemic. Created using some ice and snow recordings I made with my then-new recording setup

Oh yeah, probably a good idea to mention a couple of my selected credits too!

I’ve seen a lot of these around and it’s funny how you get a feel for the age of the person from them! Most of them make me feel ancient. 😬

I went to my friends house, and his Dad came back from a car boot sale with an Atari 2600 and Pitfall. I actually wasnt too interested in it. A few months later he got an NES with Super Mario Bros though, and that caught my attention!
