Steve Rios, a Marine from Oceanside, California, told NBC 7 San Diego that his parents, Esteban Rios and Luisa Rodriguez, were taken into custody late last month while picking up his pregnant sister, Ashley Rios, and her husband, who is also a Marine, at Camp Pendleton. The couple, who came to the United States from Mexico three decades ago and had pending green card applications, were stopped by immigration agents and later released with ankle monitors, Steve Rios said. At a later check-in with federal immigration officials, they were detained and taken into custody, he said. Esteban Rios, who had been wearing a hat and shirt that read “Proud Dad of a U.S. Marine,” was deported on Friday, his son said. “He said, ‘Yeah, this is my lucky shirt, so we’ll be fine,’” Rios recalled his father saying.

This recovery reportedly helped make the company more attractive to investors. Completion of the acquisition will also require approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). However, regulatory review could be complicated by Simonds’ past business ties to China. He founded STX Entertainment in 2012 with investments from Hony Capital, a Chinese private equity fund controlled by Legend Holdings, the parent company of Lenovo. In 2016, additional investors joined, including Tencent and Hong Kong-based PCCW. Three years later, TPG and Hony Capital led another $700 million funding round in STX.

“They grabbed one of my guys, and I told them, hold on, some of these people have papers, they have the documentation here. And the only thing they said was, ‘You don’t F with ICE. We are here,’ and they threw me on the floor … and three of them, they jumped on me and they were sitting on me,” Shouhed told KTLA in a previous interview. Shouhed claims he told agents he had recently undergone heart surgery, had three stents, and could not breathe, but that his pleas were ignored. He was handcuffed, transported to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles, and held nearly 12 hours without medical attention, he alleges. Despite agents later acknowledging he was a U.S. citizen, Shouhed said he was denied phone calls to his family and released without charges.

Schouse took several hits as protesters stood on the sidewalk blocking cars from entering the facility temporarily, but always being fended back by agents shoving them out of the way or the pepper ball rounds. But he and others also were shot while dancing and blowing bubbles in front of the facility. They later shouted to agents on the roof not to shoot a woman who arrived to drop off a relative’s legal documents. “There’s 20 people out here and they’re shooting,” he told the Sun-Times before he was interrupted by another volley of pepper ball shots raining down from agents on the building’s roof. “Even when you’re following the law, don’t be surprised if they shoot you.”

Police love to split hairs in furtherance of shitting on the constitution.
Police provided crowd control at the home, stating that local law enforcement can help federal officials if officer or public safety is at risk. "In this case, federal agents requested assistance during a lawful arrest for assaulting a federal officer when a crowd created a potential officer safety concern," police said. "This was not an immigration-related arrest, which would be prohibited under California law."

Netanyahu said Israel will allow civilians to flee to “designated safe zones,” where “they will be given ample food, water and medical care, as we have done before.” He did not say where they would go. Israel designated Muwasi as a humanitarian zone earlier in the war. The barren stretch of sandy coastline was soon filled with tents housing hundreds of thousands of people with little in the way of food, running water, toilets or trash collection. Israel has regularly carried out airstrikes against what it said were militants hiding out there, often killing women and children.

Innovations in airline pricing, which is already broadly segmented between business and leisure travel and tied to the timing of purchases, don’t typically stay there. “The most pernicious pricing technologies come out of airlines and export to the rest of the economy,” said Lindsay Owens of Groundwork Collaborative. (Groundwork was our partner on the Prospect’s special pricing issue that brought surveillance pricing to the public consciousness.) This market leadership from airlines has been true for tactics like junk fees, surge pricing, and algorithmic price-fixing.

The clustering of symptoms is what makes it so dramatic. And it is something that we at all levels E.R. Doctors, general surgeons, urology surgeons, neurosurgeons have all recognized this clustering of injuries.

One Israeli reservist said in an interview he saw soldiers firing toward Gazans carrying white flags who veered off an approved route in mid-June. “We have an unwritten rule that if you are worried and they get too close and you see that it could be something that puts you and your team at risk, you don’t take that risk,” he said. He said soldiers warned people not to come closer, but they continued. Once the crowds passed what the soldiers considered a red line, the soldiers opened fire. They are told to fire warning shots in the air or to shoot at people’s knees, but mistakes happen, he said.

On whether he got an apology or reparations after spending more than 28 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit The judge said that she's sorry for what happened to me, but I didn't get any reparation. I did apply for it. In Louisiana, they have this wrongful conviction compensation law that allows a person that been wrongfully convicted, innocent, they would give you up to $400,000 and you would get $40,000 a year for a 10-year period. Well, I actually applied for that, but … I didn't get it. But what I did get when I got released was a $10 check. And I still have that $10 check.
