It's incomprehensible to me how people aren't aware of their mute status when attending any presentations on Zoom at this point. It's not only disruptive, it's rude to the person presenting? Especially when it's something like a defense?

Sometimes I feel like when I read a paper, I'm just writing a sparknotes version of a paper for future me.

A fun fact about me is that I've read the same number of papers in the month of August in 3 of the last 4 years. Another fun fact is that I know this with certainty about myself.
