I was in the audience when he talked. By the way, Dr. Francis Collins was sitting right next to him. They talked about vaccine, hep C treatment, importance of medical research. Common ground between the two, lovely. All changed when he commented on the government shutdown. BS again.

Senator, my parents belong to the 7%. Their insurance will go from $640 a month to $2670 a month next year. That’s majority of their income.

Check out Cincinnati local group on Reddit. You will see what VP did during his two week vacation at home. 😀

What will they do to Jon Stewart and the Daily Show? Comedy Central is also owned by Paramount.

Want to share that I received NoA for my new R01 today from NIDDK. Submitted June last year. There is hope. POs work their butt off to get us funded. They are heroes.

Japan and China too.

No human project, no foreign component, very fundable score, yet no update for me. Mine goes to NIDDK, which only issued 4 NoA for new and competitive renewal R01s since April 1. The NIDDK website has stopped updating since April due to “restructuring”. Really curious what is going on there.

Just curious how many of them are new or competitive renewal and when they were reviewed. No news for mine that was reviewed last October.

It is 7:20pm EST now. CBS is showing golfing tournament. No 60min. Did I get the time wrong?

Rare disease researcher here. It is already very hard to get funding - Even March of Dimes criticized that the disease we study was too rare and wouldn’t fund the work. Now this…

Another challenge is lots of lab staffs, postdoc, research assistants, are international workers on visa. They start to leave the country. I am going to lose one in my lab. When there is nobody working in the lab, money won’t help any more.

Do POs need to participate in both council meetings and study sections? Given that so many study sections are rescheduled to end of April, I can’t imagine how POs can possibly handle the work load.

Yes for my institute.

I know some highly educated voted for Trump because of the bathroom issue, the “issue” that kids can get gender transforming surgery without parent consent, the issue that it is a lot harder for their kids to get into Ivy League schools, the issue that California schools teach kids about gay. 🤦‍♀️

They spent so much time talking about OSTP, but OSTP doesn’t even exist any more. I clicked the link to OSTP website. It directs me straight to whitehouse home page - which by the way, is quite a piece of work. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Did you post the information on Facebook, Reddit? It seems that the Cincy event is not listed on standupforscience main website. I googled the Cincy event and couldn’t find any information either. Really Need to get the word out.
