I wonder if we should worry about continuity of the NOAA Mauna Loa data -- my desktop wallpaper is the monthly update gml.noaa.gov/webdata/ccgg..., and the pub date has been slipping later & later. It used to be around 3rd of the month, March was 12th, April 14th...
The graphs show monthly mean carbon dioxide measured at Mauna Loa Observatory, Hawaii. The carbon dioxide data on Mauna Loa constitute the longest record of direct measurements of CO2 in the atmosphere. They were started by C. David Keeling of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in March of 1958 at a facility of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration [Keeling, 1976]. Many of those airmen trained at bases like RCAF Centralia in Ontario. I took a detour there on a recent trip. Many of the buildings are in poor repair, but this was well cared for.

To add a little bit, the story of the NB 104th in the War of 1812 is impressive - in the depths of winter they mustered in Fredericton and marched /on foot/ north to Quebec City, Kingston etc all the way around to the Niagara Peninsula, and fought in the key battles. Recounted in this book:

The Winter War was a war between the Soviet Union and Finland. It began with a Soviet invasion of Finland on 30 November 1939, three months after the outbreak of World War II, and ended three and a half months later with the Moscow Peace Treaty on 13 March 1940. Despite superior military strength, especially in tanks and aircraft, the Soviet Union suffered severe losses and initially made little headway.
