Poilievre secured a seat, but first needs CSIS security clearance before handling sensitive intel—or even briefings on foreign interference.
CBC spells out the absurdity: we’re meant to trust national security from someone who refuses the most basic vetting.

WATF! joe martin 🤡 is inciting treason!

@susanholtnb.bsky.social I hope this is cited as a contributing irritant to the reduced (please) supply of NB electricity

Canada will never join the United States. Maine senator Joe Martin can go fuck himself.
A Maine politician sent Canadians an unprompted offer to join the US
Sen. Joe Martin, R-Rumford, wrote the undated letter focused on how British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba could seek admission.

Ukrainians didn't surrender in 2014, when the world refused even to recognize russian aggression.

Ukrainians didn't surrender in 2022, when the world expected us to fall in 72h.

Ukrainians won't surrender in 2025, either.

For us, freedom and sovereignty are not empty words.

A stable, democratic America was the lynchpin of the Western alliance and the international order Europe relies upon. The US isn’t that anymore, and it’s getting worse. The implications are massive, and still under-recognized, perhaps in part because they’re so big and unsettling.

I second this:
Too much attention in Europe being paid to Trump's incoherently futile diplomacy and not enough to his dangerously destabilising actions in US domestic politics

Hey fellow Canadians, you know that $20 billion in travel and tourism that we used to plow into the US economy every *year* by visiting America?

Why would any sane person risk traveling to a thuggish, fascist country like Trump's America?

Spend your money in Canada 🇨🇦 or in friendly, safe countries
Armed Trump administration agents wearing masks just showed up outside of Gavin Newsom’s press conference.

This is what rising fascism looks like.

This sentiment reflects the way my fellow Canadians feel about the US when I talk with them in person, too.

Long after Trump's gone, the friendship & trust Canadians long felt for the US will be severely damaged if not gone, and I don't think it'll be restored. I'll never trust America again either
The US threatened to invade, they fuck the whole way off

Many want Mark Carney to rush into a deal — any deal — with Donald Trump. Why his strategy of "ragging the puck" might be about to pay dividends... www.nationalobserver.com/2025/08/13/o...
Canada isn’t losing the trade war — yet
Mark Carney won the April election in large part because Canadians trusted him more to deal with Donald Trump. Now, almost four months on, is their confidence being rewarded?
