Making this for dinner tonight with Rosemary White Beans. The can is good until 2028! Because confit! The fat keeps out bacteria. French housewives, raising ducks, sold the breasts at a higher price at market and preserved the legs fully cooked and submerged in fat to eat in the fall and winter.

You can just see our rocking chairs on the front patio there. Last week we met the new mailman, who drove in while we were sitting in the sun. And the whole tree is ablaze now. I can hear the neighbor’s chimes.

Outside in my pajamas. Little miracles. That’s what a backyard is for!

I planted creeping thyme in the bricks of daughter’s little fire pit. Then we had one heck of a rain storm. Now we have a nice little patch of creeping thyme in the grass below lol 💙

The blue fescue are happy for the coo sunny Fall weather. I love their blue-green that is also found in some spruce.

I love this little sliver of garden, even in the Fall when the seed heads feed the yellow finches.

I love this Colorado blue columbine. The color, the spiky jets, the sinuous curves of the petals. It’s happier in the cooler days in New England and wilted in July.

We had beef stew and homemade biscuits for dinner last night! Daughter gave us the beef stew our son-in-law made from Costco chuck. I whipped up some drop biscuits. Mr W thinks biscuits and stew are a match made in heaven.

The columbine are so much happier in this cool weather! They just weren’t happy in mid-July.

Mr W: when you go to the diner, I never get any dinner.
Lol I was out for lunch with friends. But then voilà, his dinner with cheese, beans, cherry tomatoes, red onion and cilantro inside. Never say he didn’t enjoy dinner!

I finished the painting of Monty and I’m giving it to the girls tonight. I’m happy with it. (Sorry about my thumb shadow on the left!)

In Aiguèze, France near Ste. Julien de Peyrolas. The church spire, the castle ramparts and the top of a house against the blue blue sky. Daughter went there with her ceramics for a harvest festival. There were many people and many in Halloween costumes, mostly homemade, ready for the little parade.
