US/NZ citizen. Professionally, working in the cloud/infrastructure space. Personally, running a home server out of my garage. Bluesky account is hosted on my own Personal Data Server. Opinions my own, but happy to share if you're nice. :)
This is the kind of "action" that's amazing to see from an elected official! This goes above and beyond what I would personally expect, and it's great to see. This raises the bar for what we should ask other Congressmen to do.

Kudos, Senator Van Hollen. Thank you for doing something meaningful.
Mr. Abrego Garcia was illegally abducted by the Trump Admin and, by their own admission, wrongly deported to El Salvador. He shouldn’t have to spend another second away from his family.

I'm flying to El Salvador tomorrow morning to check on his condition and discuss his return.

Oh and what about Americans living abroad like me? You expect me and millions like me to travel internationally to re-register to vote? If you want to disenfranchise us you can also end global taxation, thank you very much

A reminder that most of the 8 million Americans living abroad (among millions of others) will essentially lose the right to vote under this “law” @demsabroad.bsky.social @demsabroadcanada.bsky.social

The SAVE Act would mean the end of:
- voter registration drives
- automatic registration when updating your driving license (available in a few states)
- online registration
- American citizens living abroad being able to register to vote
🧵 There are a lot of misleading claims out there about the SAVE Act. Let me set the record straight: I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense.

I registered and vote in Michigan for the first time in 1980. I have lived in Europe for over 20 years, and have voted absentee. Now. after 45 years of voting, I will be required to fly back to Michigan and show my passport. This act prevents Americans from voting.

Hello world! I've finally made it over to Bluesky. This is my very first post, after I decided I wanted to self-host my own PDS (Personal Data Server) before I got active. I'm excited to be here, and I'm thrilled to see some federation options on a really popular platform!
