the first two episodes of Heated Rivalry are actually quite good. i really enjoyed the book but i find the show to be more careful, thoughtful, and nuanced with Shane and Ilya. MM romance books tend to value sex over characterization, but the show finds a really good balance.

there's for sure some bumps with #911onABC this season but i think a lot of the complaints come down to the fact that it's not the Buddie show rn. the space arc (though a bit long) was great, the Eddie ep was great, last night was great. it's still finding its footing and ABC's schedule doesn't help

#911onABC is always a good time but it's REALLY good when it sits back and lets Angela Bassett do her thing. phenomenal work by her last night. and the whole space arc was a lot of fun and last ep really made it all worth it too. no pun intended but they stuck the landing lol

Sigrid's new album is fantastic. she's so underrated and feels like a hidden gem within the pop world. so many big choruses here and sleek, energetic production. i love her voice. Hush Baby, Hurry Slowly is an incredible pop song and Have You Heard This Song Before hits a massive high. so good.

Shelby Oaks doesn't do too much narratively, but i found it very well made. the found footage parts especially were scary, tense, and effective. it loses some steam, but i personally enjoyed the ending. great visuals and atmosphere. good for the season. i had a good time lol

Good Fortune was cute. it had some nice laughs and great characters. the entire cast was charismatic and compelling. it had some bumpy moments but overall i had a nice time with it. a great way to spend an afternoon.

Black Phone 2 is incredible. what a genuine HORROR movie. it's bolder, gorier, daring, & a lot scarier. Ethan Hawke is horrifying, and Mason Thames & Madeleine McGraw are so compelling. setting and cinematography were great. a bit too long but i didn't care. emotional ending too

911 fans mad over plots they made up in their head lmao

Kiss of the Spider Woman exceeded expectations. it's hopeful, romantic, and tragic. the seamless balance of worlds throughout heightened all the emotions and stakes. it's unapologetically queer. Tonatiuh delivers a star-making performance. i loved Diego Luna. and engrave the oscar for JLo NOW

i am genuinely amazed that One Battle After Another is as good as everyone says. few things actually live up to that kind of hype. but it's truly a masterpiece. the entire cast, the score, the cinematography. really all of it is on another level. all i can think is holy shit 😭😭

High Potential opening the season with Abracadabra...we are so back

i had a lot of fun with Night of the Reaper. it has a great atmosphere, love for the genre, and a kick ass final girl. the score stood out too. it actively defies your expectations with twists that work to varying degrees. but i really enjoyed it. and the opening was VERY good.

Strange Harvest is genuinely very creepy. Mr. Shiny is a great horror villain. and the true crime doc format is done so well. if i would have stumbled on this with no prior knowledge, i would have believed it to be real for most of the time.

Twinless is fantastic. a little dark, emotionally vulnerable, and very, very funny. James Sweeney does wonders with his own script in front of and behind the camera. and Dylan O'Brien absolutely nails it. seriously. awards level stuff. so great to see him shine like this.

unrelated but i need my twitter algorithm to get me OFF 911twt. one of the worst fandom spaces i've seen. because what do you mean they're threatening death to tim minear because he didn't air their fanfic 😭 they say the nastiest things about that man and then expect him to give them what they want

i always find fandoms claiming things out of character to be odd because the writers created that character, so many things are actually in character whether you like it or not lol. & also humans are unpredictable & can make mistakes/decisions that go against past actions because that's human nature

happy 10th bday to E•MO•TION, one of the greatest modern pop albums. what a gift this collection of music is :)

carly rae jepsen's pop instincts are so strong. this song that wasn't even in the first or second choice groups for the original album is better than most pop songs today. for anyone else a song of this caliber is a career highlight but for the Empress of Pop, it's just another day 🤷🏻‍♂️

people melting down on twitter over one Buffy outfit from one leaked set photo from one day on set. let's all just chill and just WAIT to see what's going on. jesus. it's impossible to enjoy things sometimes over there.

Weapons was a big miss for me. outside of a few unsettling images, it wasn't all that scary. the structure was kind of irritating, and it made it hard to connect with the story or characters. can't say if it's a good or bad movie, but it's one i didn't like. i'm bummed lol

Freakier Friday was a huge surprise. it's HILARIOUS, energetic, and very heartfelt. love to see Lindsay shine like this and the entire cast was so funny. it plays into the nostalgia without feeling cheap. i had such a great time with it. laughed so hard i cried many times.

The Naked Gun had me laughing the entire runtime. sometimes to the point of tears. just joke after joke after joke. we all clapped at the end. loved the buffy reference.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps was a lot of fun. they did a great job with the family dynamic of the team. the plot was engaging and wasn't full of itself. i liked it a whole lot.
