I promised myself I'd post more here about the live music I'm taking in, but I can't keep up! This weekend I heard 5 concerts in Boston/Cambridge: Don Berman & Susan Narucki recital, Charles Overton & Kalia Vandever in JP, the newest Guerilla Opera, Junction Trio playing Zorn, & Violets (5 violas!)

Camberville/Boston friends: I’m going to the 10:30 showing of the first two episodes of Twin Peaks: The Return at the Brattle tonight. Anyone want to join me?

Is there a specific word for the deep sadness one feels while missing a live performance of Ravel's Mallarmé songs featuring an incomparable dream team on a cloudy, early fall evening?

My violin/cimbalom duo just launched our second annual call for composers. It's an easy and free application, and we'll award two composers $1,000 to write a new piece for us. Check it out here!

In re: LRT, Minnesota is the opposite of a news desert - the Twin Cities has dozens of responsible news outlets staffed by incredibly professional journalists. They do not need your breathless, speculative assistance in covering this story. Post *local* coverage as it emerges, and ignore the noise.

So I don't know quite what I expected from my Thursday evening, but witnessing/hearing a large portion of Ligeti's "L'escalier du diable" as interpreted by Bruce Hornsby(!) was not on my bingo card.

Such an incredibly tough choice to make when there are simultaneous premieres by Han Lash and Amy Williams several towns apart.

Bostonians: We're smack in the middle of a weekend with an almost absurd number of new music events that happen at overlapping/conflicting times, & if you want to try and keep track, this might help! newmusiccalendar.com/boston.html

2-factor authentication is the absolute worst enemy of someone who is a caregiver for an elderly family member, e.g. trying to manage healthcare, billing and finances, protect a loved one from scams, etc. There isn't a day that I don't curse this technological perpetual-obstacle course,

Something that doesn't get talked about nearly enough is how Sarah Palin, with her combination of religious zealotry, outsider appeal, anti-intellectualism, aggressive posturing and utter uncuriosity about the world, set the stage for the current phase of US right-wing politics.

The idea that Tr@*p's betrayal of Ukraine should bump trans civil rights to a lower place on some progressive "priority list" is incredibly insidious and destructive. To go along with this is to give in to an evil strategy. There's never been a more important time than now to support trans rights.

I didn't celebrate Twin Peaks day on February 24, but everybody knows it is much more fun to celebrate a happy Fish-In-The-Percolator day today, on February 25!

It's kind of rare, but occasionally I go to a concert where I paid a fair amount of $ for the ticket, and it turns out I only like the music a little bit.

Ignoring the news is impossible and irresponsible, but we can and should continue to celebrate the things we love—to buoy our spirits and remind us why it matters. Time to Flood the Zone with Tone. Join in if you like and share something cool. #FTZWT
