These people are lost in a fantasy world as disconnected from reality as Tolkien, Pokemon, or Warhammer40k. Except of course for the fact that being obsessed with any of those things, no matter how unbearable they can make you, still leaves the chance that through them you might make actual friends.

Biden, like Obama was a failure. Like Buttigieg and Clinton, technocrats for a status quo that is increasingly disastrous for anyone not in the top 15% of income earners. Obama promised Hope and Change and delivered more of the same, his failure to use his mandate to help people is why we are here.

Biden won because people's emotion was exhaustion and disgust with Trump/Covid and just wanted to feel 'normal' again. But then Biden failed to provide any sort of support for deteriorating conditions nor moral leadership during a genocide, so apathy rose and those highly motivated by rage won.

The problem is attaching your self worth to your productive output in the first place. Attach your self worth to how much kindness you spread, how much people reach out to you for comfort, how much better you make your community. What makes a human valuable is measured in love, kindness and decency.

Politics has everything to do with emotions, it's a popularity contest. American voters don't vote on actual policy, they vote on how they feel about how policies are presented. You give people hope and then you use your power to actually make their lives materially better in obvious ways like FDR.

They voted for Trump because he was a brick through the window of the office building where the bosses that fired them work, the lawyer that screwed them, the academic that condescends to them about their lifestyle and beliefs. He won on emotion and emotion always wins - be it hope, hate or disgust.

The lesser of two evils is how you get 85 million people not voting in the first place. Most people do not vote with logic, they vote with their their feeling, that's the reality. Bernie offered material support that people could see how it would help their lives in a language they understood.
