The EGS is basically a marketing black hole whose sole purpose is to give out free games with the feeble hope that it will convert some people into paying customers. Had Sweeney not doubled down on the exclusivity strategy he might have gotten genuine supporters in the PC gaming community.

Instead of "This is an Xbox" it's now "This is a PC".
