While Sir Frederick Banting was a driving force behind the discovery of insulin and its therapeutic potential, he was by no means the only one on the team.
There was also James Macleod, Charles Best and today's subject...James Collip.
This is his story.

Despite living next door in Nova Scotia, I just crossed the bridge for the first time this year. I don’t go to PEI very often LOL
For over 100 years, there were plans in place to build a fixed link between Prince Edward Island and the Canadian mainland.
An underground tunnel and a causeway were both proposed before a bridge was built.
This is the story of the Confederation Bridge.

Note that #Halifax was already a thriving port city in 1794, when #Toronto was still log cabins.
The oldest surviving building in Toronto is a tiny log cabin built in 1794.
When the cabin was built, York (now Toronto) was only one-year-old.
It has seen the city grow around it and it is a glimpse into the distant past.
This is the story of the Scadding Cabin!

Why were there so many sculptures (36 marbles and 16 bronzes) in the Antikythera wreck (70-50 BCE)? A great new, open access article by Brian Martens for ABSA argues they were for a gymnasion. www.cambridge.org/core/journal... A really interesting take 125 years after this monumental discovery.

The #PWHL has a very logical solution to the EBUG problem.
A couple #PWHL rule updates today:
1) PWHL teams are eligible to carry three goalies. If a goalie is injured and forced to leave the game, a scratched goalie can immediately join the bench. 1st goalie would then be ruled ineligible for the rest of the night.

“The AI models struggled to match the level of casual negativity and spontaneous emotional expression common in human social media posts.”

Doesn’t this say more about the human’s expectations, than it does the “failure” of #AI to be “sufficiently toxic”

Gaius and Lucius or Britannicus and Nero? The identity of these two young men depicted in heroic nude at Aphrodisias is up for debate, but that we’re looking at imperial youths is clear. The figure on the left holds the orb of the world—a clear sign of rule.
