Casually saw Biden on the boardwalk in Rehoboth. He was very sweet, taking photos and chatting with people. The crowd grew very quick so secret service escorted him away after a bit. He seemed well, all things considered. Lots of cheers and thank yous and "I miss you"s.

The entire team I worked has now beem terminated or just received their notices. I'm so angry.
Today (6/20), many full-time employees from across VOA and USAGM received Reduction in Force (RIF) notices, terminating their employment. Most of them had been on adminstrative leave since mid-March, after President Trump ordered that the agency be dismantled. Here is our statement.

The defunding of Voice of America, RFE/RL and its multiple language services has been decried as “a gift to dictators”. Although these cuts are being disputed in court, they could have long-lasting implications for audiences around the world. Can the harm be undone?

This is not just about saving the jobs of journalists. VOA’s broadcasts play an important role in protecting US and global security. Already adversaries are filling the void as VOA is silenced.

To the surprise of no one, unfortunately...
At 12:33 PM on May 4, the SaveVOA team received a notice that our X account (@savevoanow) has been suspended for allegedly “violating rules against inauthentic accounts.” We are appealing this decision.

For those who have been asking what's next
We may have won in court on April 22, but VOA is still not back. Why? Because the appeals process is still underway, and until that concludes, our return remains on hold. This is not just a delay, it’s a continued silencing of VOA journalists.

I feel like I should have something poignant to say, but as we turned in our badges and were escorted to our desks to collect things, there was just such a profound feeling of nothingness.

It's been a week since 1300 of us at Voice of America were put on administrative leave, just days after all our news wire services were canceled. It'll be a week tomorrow since I and over 500 other contractors were terminated.

So here's a lawsuit. #SaveVOA

Six Voice of America journalists and a director at its parent agency have sued the Trump administration, alleging its moves to shut down the U.S.-funded network are unconstitutional.

VOA's history and mission are complicated, there's no question about it. But I'm proud of the independence that VOA journalists have fought for in recent decades. And as a motto for a news organization, I'm sorry, you just can't beat this:

Voice of America was founded to counter propaganda during WWII, & still does for 300+ mil people worldwide, most living under authoritarian governments. Can't imagine why OUR new government would describe it as "rot." Once again, people doing important work they cared deeply about lose their jobs.
Looks like every PSC (contractors), including yours truly, was just terminated from VOA.
