Trump’s HHS put me on “non-disciplinary” admin leave today. This was retaliation for speaking up. Moves like this are designed to silence us. Let’s not let.

I guess I am hitting a nerve, because they just put me on admin leave.

The Chapel Hill community came out in full force today to tell Republicans to keep their #HandsOff our jobs, our healthcare, our rights, and our democracy 🩵🪧 #GDTBATH
Big turnout in Chapel Hill as part of the national "Hands Off" day of action, with the crowd spilling out of the Peace & Justice Plaza on E. Franklin to across the street.

Worth nothing: the UNC Science Expo is also happening nearby. So there's a TON of folks + traffic around.

Launching clinical trials is expensive. Research teams hire staff, purchase equipment and supplies, build databases, write protocols, navigate regulatory approvals... this all costs money.

Recent #NIH grant terminations create waste by preventing return on taxpayers' investment in science. 🧪

Yes. The situation at NIH is worse than the public realizes.

The #NIH is on track to be effectively ended as a funder of evidence-based research within a year.

That is not an exaggeration. The firings and consolidation announced today will create a new, MUCH worse NIH.

The situation at the NIH and for all biomedical and cancer cure research in the United States is MUCH MUCH WORSE than you realize.
Ruining studies and potentially harming research subjects...

Abruptly terminating clinical trials...

Ignorant and evil

There is no scientific rationale to this. There will be no economic benefit to the country. These are scientists who are finding out that overnight they can no longer pay staff and students—you know, people who have bills to pay, mortgages, kids.

Seeing that nearly all of Tesla's #cybertrucks have been recalled brought the biggest smile to my face today.

Sometimes we have to search hard for the wins, and sometimes they fall in front of us. Like a rusty cybertruck panel. 🤭

Just throwing it out there—now is a great time to schedule preventative care appointments or get a thorough check-up. We’re in uncertain times with an administration that shows little regard for science or public health. That means it’s more important than ever to be proactive about your well-being.

"The reason you should care about this is not that it could happen to you but that it is already happening to others. It is happening to people who, we claim, have rights just because we are human."

We created a form you can use to send emails to your House Rep and Senators.

If they’re Dems who voted for the CR, it’s condemning the choice.

If they’re Dems who voted against the CR, it thanks them.

If they’re GOP, basically: 🖕

Have fun. Please share:

Keep calling, keep emailing, and keep the pressure on high! ☎️📨🌡️

All democratic senators must #HoldTheLine and oppose both cloture and the Republican continuing resolution.

Also, @schumer.senate.gov, I am so disappointed in you. We cannot fight tyranny with procedural obedience.

CALLS ARE WORKING - it has bought us precious time, but we NEED to keep the pressure up.

Tomorrow is the cloture vote.

KEEP CALLING: (202) 224-3121 ☎️☎️☎️

Tell your Dem Senator to vote NO on Cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill.

Do NOT assume your Senator will be good on this. Trust me.
🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.

ARE THESE YOUR SENATORS?

Please call them TODAY and demand that they #HoldTheLine! Unless Republicans agree to a clean, short-term CR, Democrats must *ALL* Vote NO - on cloture AND the spending bill.

Any Democrat who chooses to stand with Republicans stands complicit!

📆 Born after 1957 and vaccinated before 1968? ➡️ A booster is recommended.

❓ Unsure whether you've received 2 doses of the MMR vaccine? ➡️ Talk to your doctor about a booster, especially if you work in a college or healthcare setting.

With measles in the news, adults are wondering, do I need a vaccine booster?
With a measles outbreak growing in West Texas, and isolated cases popping up across the country, experts say vaccination is the best protection. And not just for kids. Some adults may need a booster.
