I write words and code, wave swords around, and try to vacuum the cat.

Back in 🇸🇪 after 20 odd years in 🇬🇧
Oh, definitely!

$NEWJOB let me pick work phone myself, with a set budget. The Fairphone 6 only just squeezed under, with around 50p spare.

Really good battery life, and it's made to be user-replaceable.

You're a highly collectible beanie babe.

He's a retired martial arts master, so doesn't really fight anymore. Instead, he's the provider of sage advice and healing beans.

Early on during my sojourn in England, I tried saying "It's pronounced almost like Urien."

*blank looks*

"Welsh name? Made famous by king Urien of Rheged? Father of sir Ywaine in Arthurian legends?"

*more blank looks*

"Don't you learn history?"

"Was he related to Alfred?"

When my SO was studying for her Ethnology degree, I read a lot of her assigned articles because it's interesting. There were some interesting ones about the importance of wives when it came to promotion in the Swedish armed forces from the late 19th c. onwards I'm sure applied as much in academia.

Skipping, I would guess. l think that's what it's called on YouTube.

Due to time's inexorable hurtling ahead, I no longer have any young people available to ask.

When there's something in the book - be it e-ink or paper - that makes me stop and think, the page is still unturned when my mind returns from its wander.

The audiobook marches on, regardless of where my attention is.

I quite enjoyed watching the first season of "My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!" a few years back.

I'll add "... As a Slime" to the list.

We do meatballs (and this year my brother gave me a few kilos of moose mince, so they'll be extra nice), and, after living in the UK, Yorkshire puds.

The big stumbling block isn't Weird or Excel, but Outlook, with its integration of email, calendar, and meeting booking (also Teams, these days).

Thunderbird is a great email client - I've used it at home for over a decade - but the integration with a corporate calendar isn't there.

Can't Calibre convert? Might need that DRM-atripping plugin though.

(I consider format-shifting to be a moral right. YMMV.)

When attempting to watch sky phenomena in the UK, I think you have to sneak up on it, by appearing disinterested and unconcerned, until the last possible minute. Preparing in advance is as good as (or better than) any pagan rain summoning ritual.

That's what I used to tell the kids before letting them loose on the playground...

Looks fun, and dark (thematically (approving)) and dark (visually (disapproving)).

Yeah, I mean, if you remove someone's heart while they're alive, and don't replace it with something, that's a strong hint at cause of death.

Pre- or post-mortem removal?

I was listening to an episode of @k8lister.bsky.social 's "Betwixt the sheets" the other day and learned that any sexual activity that can't result in pregnancy is sodomy by the church's definition, so there are a lot of sodomites around.
