Started working on a tool that spins up tap containers for my atproto apps and syncs record data to different DB adapters.

I'm calling the tool Warp Pipe, and will be migrating my app ingesters to use it, starting with @beaconbits.app

👋 We just shipped some more changes to the What's Hot feed: more nuanced filters to keep this feed "safe for work" and we're only showing top-level posts here now.

As a reminder, this feed is temporary — we'll be shipping custom feeds soon for you to customize your own experience and what you see.
👋 We're changing up the What's Hot feed!

We've decided to not show some types of content in the feed (e.g. sexually explicit images). This content is allowed on the app, but since What's Hot has become the landing point for all of our new users, we're updating this simple placeholder algorithm.

In the latest app update, we added the ability to temporarily deactivate your account. This will hide your profile and posts but keep your handle reserved. Take a breather for as long as you need to!

Excited to welcome Mike Masnick to the Bluesky board! His work has been an inspiration to us from the start, and his perspective will be invaluable as we build towards a more open internet.
We’re thrilled to announce that Mike Masnick has joined Bluesky’s Board of Directors.

He is the author of the "Protocols, Not Platforms" paper that first inspired the Bluesky initiative, and the founder and editor of Techdirt.
Some personal news! I'm excited to be joining the Bluesky board to support Jay and the team in achieving their vision of a decentralized, protocol-based social internet.

Moderation decisions draw intense public scrutiny from many places. That’s why Bluesky's architecture is designed to enable communities to control their online spaces, independent of the company or its leadership. We will continue to work on empowering people with more control over their experience.

1/ With more users joining Bluesky, we know how important it is to identify which accounts are real. Users deserve confidence that the accounts they interact with are authentic.

I love this so much.

There’s a billion dollars of infrastructure and engineering running content algorithms at Meta and X.

We literally turn the entire thing inside out — for free.

Build your own feed.

Share it.

Find another.

Remix it.

We sincerely thank Jack for his help funding and initiating the bluesky project. Today, Bluesky is thriving as an open source social network running on atproto, the decentralized protocol we have built.

With all due respect to Jack for having the vision to invest in decentralized protocols, we’ve carried out the work in a way I don’t think he fully understands. Bluesky is structurally open in a way Twitter has never been, but the design of atproto allows it to feel familiar and easy to use.

With this raise, I’m excited to welcome @kinjal.bsky.social to the board. She shares our vision for a social media ecosystem that empowers users and supports developer freedom, and it's been a great experience working with her. With her support, we are well positioned to grow.

Bluesky is built to make social more like the Web again, so we will never suppress links. Link to your writing, your art, your personal site — this is the social internet, designed from the ground up to be open and interoperable.
Hard to describe as a journalist how grateful I am to have a text-based app that does not suppress hyperlinks. I don’t know if people realize exactly how hostile the corporate internet has gotten toward news.

You can think of every user on here as a website! Here's a thread explaining how it works.
If you're curious why everybody's username is a domain, it's because every user is essentially a website

There are so many of you joining right now that things may temporarily glitch! If you’re seeing “invalid handle”, this is probably one of those things — see this thread for more information.

If you're seeing "Invalid Handle" on your profile, this should resolve on its own — thanks for your patience!! 🦋
