“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.

Dog who can see knows that blind dog loves plums. He loves plums so much that we blocked his access to the tree with a baby gate. Dog who can see has figured out a sneaky way to army crawl under the deck to get there. Plums are currency, and she’s making it rain.

if you were looking for signs that Jeff Bezos's obeisance to Trump has bled over into newsroom coverage it would probably look something like this article getting top billing over the story of 3-5 million people marching yesterday www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...
She marched against Trump in 2017. Now, she says, ‘just let it all burn.’
Democrats are struggling to match the massive “resistance” movement that sprang up in Trump’s first term — and battling cynicism among their own voters.

This week, after a whole adult life of dealing with every unread email in my inbox, I decided to abandon the habit. I can’t even explain how liberating it feels. I probably have a whole new Myers-Briggs personality type now.

Anybody know any Tacoma attorneys?
Becky Burke of Book Island (a picture book publisher in the UK founded by my fellow Tokarczuk translator Greet Pauwelijn) was "detained" by ICE at the Canadian border on 2/28. Her father asked that her story be shared in case someone can help her. He writes:

It would be really, really awful if people abused the Department of Education’s new snitch portal and filled it with so much spam that they couldn’t possibly sort through all the claims.

My #embroidery #bookjournal is almost caught up. I’m only stitching each color on a genre when I read a book from that genre—it’s making me diversify!

As a member of the 2025 Printz book award committee, I received 500+ books in 2024. I have decided to make my own list of “YA book covers that go the hardest.” I have no rubric, just vibes. This is not endorsed by YALSA or the rest of the Printz committee. 😂 💙📚

I just need to tell somebody that I picked The First State of Being as the best book of the year. In April. And was told it was too young for a Printz. (It just won the Newbery.) Let’s never speak of this again.
