Yes, exactly!! Kids need to be exposed to books and stories, and I don't know if there is a modern equivalent to Reading Rainbow, but we definitely need one

I'm so grateful that both my parents took the time to read to us. My Mom would borrow books I finished to read and discuss them with me. I was a student who struggled to learn how to read, who has a learning disability, and my parents helped me become a lifelong reader more than any one teacher did.

every day I am asked questions about grade-level vocabulary words that students have never been exposed to before, students are struggling with literacy more than ever and it is so so so depressing. Teachers can only do so much!
