Yes, definitely agree. Plus I think other artists do get similar advice. You don't spend 10 years on your very first painting and you certainly don't expect your first one to be a masterpiece. You start off simpler and improve the more you do it.

Interesting take... I don't think I've ever heard advice to make crap games. I have heard that your first game is unlikely to be a massive success so don't pin all your hopes on it and see it as a learning experience for the next one though.
