Once the concept of family is broken, you’re going to have “kids” dumping their parents off in a home while they do their midlife pursuit of money or whatever. But you get what you give.

I saw so many elderly crying at the Home. Asking for their sons and daughters. Making friends with me. These people have to watch their new friends there die over and over. Knowing they might be next. I nearly went into a mental breakdown supporting my mother, whom everyone had abandoned. Family.

It’d also help if their families actually bothered to visit them, at least on holidays.
