Nicusor Dan has overtaken the Coalition's Crin Antonescu for 2nd place. The coalition's candidate polled at 20%, even though the parties got more than 50% of the vote in December. The future of the coalition is now all but decided, with all parties looking to break it apart.

We have the first two exit polls, there seems to be a dead heat between Antonescu (representing the current "GroKo" type coalition currently governing Romania) and Nicușo Dan, an independent who has managed to garner the support of many smaller parties.

The nightmare scenario is the one in which the former PM Victor Ponta gets the second spot and goes in the run-off election. Ponta has run a sovereign, MAGA rip-off campaign, replete with "Romania first" as the slogan and "make romania great again" hats

@transportforlondon.bsky.social you really need to be more upfront about the service updates on lines. You can't claim "good service on the rest of the line" when all trains have been cancelled all day!

This, by @martinsandbu.ft.com is probably the best reading of what MAGA's assault on Europe means and what our takeaway should be. I hope UK leaders learn this and understand that aligning themselves with Europe is the right (morally AND strategically) move here.

This is insane. Reeves has sacked the head of the CMA (Competition and Market's Authority) and this article seems to imply that he was not fit to... "cut regulation that holds back growth".
This is the CMA! It's whole purpose is to ensure growth doesn't come at the cost of monopolies or oligopolies

This vision also hinges on using money as a weapon to blatantly bribe civil servants into upholding a parallel set of laws than the democratically established ones.
There's a lot to say about American policing I guess but I don't think this is the solution.

This is not news to most people, but Silicon Valley's authoritarian/bordering on fascistic turn is extremely troublesome considering the amount of capital and power these people wield.

Pleasently surprised to see my hometown's Mayor's Office at least declaratively talking about urban trees as "indispensable parts of our urban infrastructure" and creating services for citizens to report issues with the existing tree stock.
