Living in the outer Hebrides ~ here for the blue sky

Let’s just be clear about what over 50% of the UK population say they’re worried about.

Because I don’t want a fascist government in London a little over 3 years from now.

One is sheer numbers. The UK population is predicted by ONS to climb maybe 3 million in the next 7 years.

This is the other.

DeepSeek agrees with you on c.8k timing if not route.

Via Isle of Man, crossing sea now no more than 60 metres deep

DeepSeek has generated this graph

Top line is isostatic uplift

Faint purple line is eustatic(global) sea level

Orange line relative or apparent sea level

I haven’t seen 10,000 years suggested anywhere else.

Sea level at the last glacial maximum is considered to have been 130 metres lower.

15,000 BP still c.100 m lower.

By 10,000 BP c.60 m lower. The sea extended up the future English Channel past Brighton.

Time for Europe to decide what that means.

I think most Europeans understand even if our leaders are afraid to that a US safety guarantee is no guarantee.

Really ? So what’s the truth, you think ?

Palynological surveys show forest grew in the Peak District, Cumbria, Orkney, the outer Hebrides etc. before the Neolithic farmers arrived.

Extreme examples- Aspen, Shetland, out of reach of sheep, and pollen analysis of cores from a loch bed in Uist

You find deep peat in natural peat bogs on fairly level ground flanked by higher ground. On hillsides you find a thin carpet of peat where former forest soil has washed away when the forest was removed.

This bit of Wester Ross shows what happened naturally on a bit of land freed from grazing.

Incorrect. It happened about 12,900 years ago, it went on c.1,200 years, and while new ice sheets grew in places, pollen surveys show in the west of the emerging British isles, near the sea trees still grew. Most humans would live on coasts now undersea.

Signs of human activity found in Ireland ~

I’m at the far northwest end of Europe in Scotland.

Thanks for everything you do.

I can offer you my favourite poem of the 20th century ~

The only sector of the population still in favour of Labour is the privately educated. I suppose you better hold onto what vestigial scrap of support you’ve got in the little time the party has left.

By way of a substitute here’s something found on the Isle of Harris in the outer Hebrides a few years ago, and the beach where it was found. You have to source your coffee & sandwich elsewhere ~

It would be nice to be able to say this was bullshit ~

(Another difference between the two events being around ten times more people at the rally)

Still, keep calling all those people fascist thugs and eventually they’ll live up to it.

This is perhaps the main engine of the global thermohaline (ie driven by heat and salinity differentials) current, certainly one of them.

Accelerating melting off Greenland is surely acting as a brake. It’s also rerouting the AMOC to surface further north heating the Arctic.
