10 horror movies to get to know me (in no order) 🍿

1. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre
2. Martyrs
3. The Old Dark House
4. You Won't Be Alone
5. A Dark Song
6. The Evil Dead
7. Night of the Demon
8. Kill List
9. The Wicker Man
10. Midsommar
I love the whole 28 X Later series, even Weeks. In some ways The Bone Temple is the boldest of the lot. Nia DaCosta thoroughly gets this material and draws out a raft of impeccable performances. Hope we don't have to wait too long for the conclusion but I suppose it'll be a couple of years at least.

RIP Béla Tarr. It might be time to upgrade to the 4K restored version of Werckmeister Harmonies, but I'm giving my old DVD one more spin on his memory.

Not my usual thing but included in Kobo Plus so here goes. Also heard Grady Hendrix on a podcast and he seemed like a good sort. Perfectly readable so far. #goodreads #nowreading

The plot thickens 🤔 To be honest, any explanation seems more plausible than the idea that nobody at any stage of the process noticed that something was off with their merry Christmas scene.

London's giant AI artwork to be torn down
The bizarre story of why a much-talked-about creation is being torn down. Plus: Docklands Light Railway extension, giant laser stalks the night sky, and more tales of Android phone theft rejection.

I usually like to rant at length about 'AI' 'art', but there's really nothing I can add to this. It's doing my job for me
Londoners baffled by bizarre Christmas mural.

At first glance the suspected AI-generated mural seems to depict a crowd enjoying the festive season. But closer inspection reveals a disturbing array of figures including people with warped faces and dogs with the heads of birds

Bewitching folk tunes and drones from supremely gifted and exquisitely named banjo player and instrument maker Jacken Elswyth, also of Shovel Dance Collective. Can't help imagining these pieces in the soundtrack to a folk horror film, but that's my problem.

Well, it's a 'demon' of the Church's own making. The Christian Devil didn't take on that fauny-satyrical look until they took umbrage with the Pan trend of the 19th Century.

I've never seen The Outcasts. This edition looks like a great opportunity to fix that.
We just did another print run of our release of #TheOutcasts, and many of you were after the now sold out deluxe edition. While we will NEVER reprint a deluxe edition that has sold out, we wanted #DeafCrocodile fans to be able to have this BEAUTIFUL art created by Beth Morris on a new slipcover!

It isn't really anything like the movie Near Dark but it's a Southern vampire story so that's my inevitable point of reference. Very good so far. I see the Cormac McCarthy comparison too although this book has full punctuation and quotation marks. www.goodreads.com/book/show/31...

What was the last horror movie that made you cry? Mine was Bring Her Back. It was emotional throughout but I wasn't expecting tears until a line right at the end absolutely punched me in the gut. If you've seen it you might be able to guess which one.

In the metaphoric terms of Fairy Tales we may say “a darkness had fallen over the land”

Let’s look at six delusional beliefs being propagated by our current "wizards" of political propaganda–agents of the media elite:

These same hacks will cry "cancel culture" whenever the public rightly turns its back on one of their truly odious mates, but they'll end your career if you object to mass child murder. Evil hypocrites.
The media claims Gary Lineker has been pushed out after a "backlash" – as though you and I want him gone.

No. Britain's genocide-supporting media manufactured the "backlash" it now cites as grounds for his departure.
