Thank you!

It’s triangle solitaire. A version of this game is familiar to people who have eaten at a chain restaurant barrel in the logo.

Big stuff gets awkward moving around or figuring out you need to flip it over for a step and then flip it back over, etc. I’ve been having that issue all week. Here’s a little taster, should be mostly together tomorrow.

Put first coat on some bigger pieces today, should give you a better idea. Still a little wet, pic 1 lights on and some glare from windows on the right. Pic 2 lights off, still glare and shadows from the right. You can see how deep the color is and still flat and not plastic like a poly would be.

You can get dark oak with transtint and then finish over it. The grain wont pop as much as the char though. That’s black due under Rubio charcoal. I think 180, maybe 150 grit sanding before dye was applied. It’s one of a handful of test scraps and they all turned out similar.

That’s why it’s great. You can make the most boring end table shapes into amazing projects with wild enough wood. This is an end table where the top, drawer, and panels are all just from the shorts bin.

I’m assuming you didn’t glue this seam here? If so, good chance this is actually grafted. A truly unique and beautiful piece of wood.

For all the YouTubers preaching the crosscut sled & 5 cut method, the sled I actually use the most, & get perfectly square cuts from, is the simple panel sled like Norm’s version from New Yankee Workshop. I made another one today w/ my worst quality plywood as an ode to Norm, the OG.

Still haven’t figured out the mistake, but it will be there.

This portable drill press jigs are your friend. I’ve never had issue with the milescraft one I have. It’s a great substitute for a drill press.
