From what I've read (admittedly I only read this today and haven't fact checked) she's fairly pro-US, pro-Israel, and anti-socialist - and Trump championed her earlier in the year. Could this be, in part, a quiet concession to him? (I mean he'll still probably flip out)

Not quite; there are 427 physical seats in the HoC. On the occasions when all MPs are present, about a quarter have to stand. It's a bit of a crush, as pictured. No reason the US couldn't do the same, of course, but it's not really fit for purpose (time to leave the building, IMO!)
