Juneteenth is a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come—and how much further we still have to go.

It marks the moment freedom finally reached our people right here in Texas. Our people took what was withheld and built something powerful: resilience, pride, and a legacy we carry to this day. (1/2)

A DHS spokesperson defended the detainment, accusing Sen. Padilla of failing to properly identify himself during Sec. Kristi Noem's press conference.

But multiple videos show Padilla clearly identifying himself as a senator.
Sen. Padilla pushed to ground, handcuffed for demanding DHS not lie
Forcibly removing a sitting US senator, as they opposed the president's immigration policy, is a part of a broader slide.

Dem Senators, shut down Senate until Noem resigns after Sen Padilla violently arrested.
Sen Padilla (D-CA) tried to ask question at press conference in LA hosted by Noem, Sec'y of DHS. For doing so, law enforcement removed Padilla forcibly, handcuffed him, and pushed him to the ground. NOEM MUST GO!

While performing official oversight duties, a Democratic senator was violently tackled and handcuffed by federal agents because he dared to ask a question.

This isn’t law enforcement. This is occupation. 🧵

Just so those of you outside of California know, the little red circle is the area that the National Guard and Marines are there protecting. There’s 5 times more troops then protesters. This is unacceptable

We are marching to Senator Thune’s office. There must be accountability for the detainment of a Senator. This is not normal.

So Kristi Noem goes on Fox and lies that Sen Padilla didn’t ID himself, even though the video is there for all to see. But get what she’s saying: Assaulting and handcuffing someone for trying to ask a question is OK in any case? This is a criminal regime.

The White House could appeal the injunction issued by the judge but the decision in a federal court is a setback for President Trump.
Appeals court blocks earlier ruling, allows Trump to command California Guard for now
A federal judge had ruled that Trump violated the law and had to turn control of the California National Guard back to the state Friday. But an appeals court put that on hold until a hearing on an appeal can be held next week.
