I’m keeping my five year old phone and two year old tablet until the batteries can’t hold a charge and/or the latest updates can’t be downloaded. I am due for a new laptop since my nine year old Toshiba is sluggish and obsolete, but I’m taking my sweet time.

This will never be me - I bought an M4 Mac Air just before my book tour - but I think the premise of "device hoarding" here is ridiculous. With every major purchase, buy as well as you can and then use that thing until you can't use it any more. That's just sensible.

I’m not interested in books peddled by venture capitalists (most likely written by ChatGPT) who are riding a trend to make a quick buck and are more about aesthetics than any love for literature. Also, this is a total vanity project and that in of itself is a hard pass.
