and you weren’t the only one i saw, so not personal, and tbh it’s understandable as a fear response. we all want to survive. but as you say, doesn’t do anything, and plays into the individualism these people in power want. they want us to abandon each other bc it gives us less power against them

and i think that just has nothing to do with her feelings abt knives as a person; it's abt her looking at her own life. he could be anyone, if it got her what she wanted. interesting stuff! but also i'm only read trimax once, so i'd be curious to see if i encounter another angle upon a reread

i guess i see her as more decisive than that; i don't think she is fearful or trapped, i think she wholeheartedly believes there's no place in the world for her and so has committed to an extermination that will eventually come for her too, if it means she can be free in the time leading up.

i agree re: elendira + ww's sliding door parallel but i think where it breaks down to me is that i did not read elendira as having any devotion to knives. i read her as a nihilist taking advantage of whatever alliance would give her dignity and power in her time remaining. but thats just me!

but this post was mostly about people who post about elendira in a #gaybestfriend way but for trans people. i don't think she's emotionally close to knives and i don't think her personality is shopping and gay brunch, sorry

i think it’s a matter of the axis you want to turn the inversion on! i can see the case for legato+ww in their positions relative to vk and their subsequent deaths for them, and also i think elendira is a striking move to acknowledge the intentional limits nightow has set for the narrative scope-

i still want to watch crimson peak bc do think his production design brain is incredible but i am at peace going in that the story and camerawork will do nothing for it. it’s such a shame 😔
