It is also likely that the ongoing mass deportation efforts may undermine crime control because it will make people -- undocumented and otherwise -- afraid to seek help from police if they are victimized or witness a crime.

Second, immigrants, including undocumented immigrants, are less likely to be involved in crime than Americans who were born here. Communities with high immigrant populations also tend to have lower crime rates, compared to otherwise similar communities.
