My first novel is now available in paperback and digital formats.

If you like mildly spooky whodunits narrated by socially anxious academics, this might be a good book for you!

New paper with @profsamperry.bsky.social in the current issue of Ethnic and Racial Studies! We find that the link between Christian nationalism and attitudes about gun control is very strongly moderated by race. Link should have 50 free eprints.

Excited to share that my first novel now has a cover and a release date. It's about a criminology PhD student who becomes entangled in a whodunit-style murder mystery. Direct result of reading a bunch of Agatha Christie + procrastinating writing my dissertation.

Hello! Just want to put on my criminology hat for a minute and remind everyone that the idea of a "migrant crime wave" is empirically untrue.

First, violent crime in the US has recently been declining, following a spike in 2020.

Violent Crime Is Falling Nationwide — Here’s How We Know
Preliminary FBI data, however imperfect, confirms a sharp downward trend in crime, undercutting attempts to blame criminal justice reform for pandemic-era spikes in violence.

My most recent paper is now online at Sociology of Religion. Feel free to check it out, and I hope you find it useful!
