I hope you’re right! I guess I’m leaning pessimistic in my concern that – much like an antibiotic-resistant bacteria – the fascist, racist, anti-Semitic urges have only grown stronger and smarter in the face of resistance.

It’s a funny, but also enraging, when I think about how scammers wouldn’t STILL be trying this if it wasn’t somehow working on enough people to make it worthwhile. And tbh, I’m not sure who to be more enraged at.

I mean…I voted for her. And I agree the system failed us. I’m just thinking about how clinging to establishment might be hurting us. We lost so many votes that way.

Hear me out. What if the dems tried to be too centrist, sidelining Bernie and pushing Hillary was a mistake? You know, all my the same lines as allowing Biden to run again. Have we not seen what running establishment candidates accomplishes?

I love it like some might love a sibling. Because I have to. Even though we don’t always get along, there is a natural urge to protect it. And I do love its thoughtfully established foundation of a Constitution and of Rights & a gov’t designed with checks and balances I believe was meant to evolve.

I know. I read all comments before responding, including yours. I do understand what anecdotal means and I’m not making a sweeping generalization that homophobes are “likely”closeted and self-hating. But I think it does happen and it’s okay to talk about it. I’m interested in why it happens.

Can confirm same, and a friend revealed that one of our most racist and homophobic fellow colleagues was harassing and threatening him after rejecting his advances. And he didn’t deny it when called on it (got mad, though). Anecdotal, maybe, but a seemingly common one.

Indeed. I knew a man like this. He was incredibly hypocritical in his “faith” as a supposed Christian, and super self-righteous. I’m not saying there is a type, but…I’d bet there’s a correlation.
