Back to editing secret project number one and do me a favor, if you're in the Matt Damon camp circa 2023 and still calling people the f word, maybe rethink that. Your gay friends hear it and it tells them how you feel about them: namely that they don't matter to you and aren't safe with you.

Main lines @drslayton.bsky.social's Adam Binder series and have been telling everyone I know the read. These books are wonderful.

10 out of 10.

Now off to read Rogue Community College because I have questions after reading Redneck Revenant...

Hrm... Now I want to know how Adam got into a fight with a wicker bear....

Definitely a great read, with some great character and world building of the Binder-verse!

I'm a SNAP recipient... for the last month I was tightening my belt, doing my best to eat cheaper and eating less so I'd have a little left over to help get me through when payments were cut. It was all for nothing. Fuck the dems who supported this.
I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

A family that I grew up with is going through a horrendous time. The wife has entered the final stages of losing her battle with Ovarian Cancer. If anyone sees this, and is moved, maybe take a moment to consider helping them out.

Dagnabbit, @drslayton.bsky.social ,

Get me excitedly teary, only to layer a HUGE sense of dread on top of it!

I loved my return to the universe. And again it's so easy to identify so much with Adam and his struggles in this one. I know, I'm biased, but well done! Excited for Backwoods Banshee!

No, not me spending an Audible credit on @drslayton.bsky.social 's Redneck Revenant at 4am because I woke up in the middle of the night for unrelated reasons, couldn't sleep, and didn't want to wait for my physical copy before diving in...

Redneck Revenant (Adam Binder Novels #4)
From bestselling author David R. Slayton, Redneck Revenant is an exciting new chapter in the Adam Binder series. Adam Binder's life has never been better. Sure, he has no money, no car, no home to call his own, and he's worried about creating a future with his boyfriend Vic, but he's closer to his family than ever before. He's also Page to the Elven Court of Swords, and that appointment is not without its perks--like the invisible sword strapped to his back. But on Halloween night, Adam's life takes a disturbing turn. Annie, his brother's long-lost wife, turns up on her husband's doorstep alive and well, with no memory of her death. But is it really Annie, or a Trojan horse from some new magical enemy? To uncover the truth, Adam will need help from those he loves most--as well as a couple of friends at Rogue Community College. As he navigates a perilous maze of magical politics and battles terrifying creatures from beyond the known realms, Adam will discover a secret darker and more unsettling than anything he could have imagined.

This entire thread pretty much sums up my very complicated relationship with faith and belief in 'something else'.

I've seen first hand religion being used as the scapegoat for not having to be good, instead of the driving force for improving the situation and lives around us.
Just as long as you're forgiven, you've got your ticket off this rock. So my experience, is that it's a way to abdicate your responsibilities, to your children, and most of all, to yourself.

I was looking in the fridge just now at last night's leftovers, and was reminded of one of the phrases that hooked me in @drslayton.bsky.social's Adam Binder series.

When Adam remembers scraping the leftover pot of spaghetti.

It's one of those IYKYK moments that took me back to childhood
