Totally agree- I think sharing with wider audience these hard limitations by FHWA they can put energy into advocating for a change. MUTCD is now required to be updated every 2 years (based on advocates highlighting it had been too long between 2009 update and 2024)

Unfortunately us standards require farside placement for primary signal heads. Agencies *could add supplemental signals near side but they would be extra
