We're a group of writers who meet regularly to explore and develop our writing. We have diverse tastes and styles. We are all visually impaired but it doesn't define us.

I mentioned that one of our group died recently. Her family have agreed that we can post some of her work here. I'll post an image of one of her pieces and will put it in alt text too. Not sure if this is the best way so any advice would be welcome.
Socks And Soap My Dad came back from the First World War with trench foot. It smelled horrible. Every day, he used to have to bathe his feet. He'd sit in his armchair in the living room, in front of the fire And put his feet in a bowl of water. It was a family ritual. My job was to bring a jug of water, from the kettle on the stove And check with him that it wasn't too hot. He'd sit with his feet in the bowl, and doze off. Then we'd bring him clean socks - they had to be clean, every day. He'd turn them inside out: And rub them with a tablet of soap. It helped to sweeten the smell. Once, I offered to bring him talcum powder: “Too effeminate”, he said. Clean socks, full of soap. That's the smell of him that I remember: Eighty three years later.
