We're a group of writers who meet regularly to explore and develop our writing. We have diverse tastes and styles. We are all visually impaired but it doesn't define us.
We met for the first time in 2025 and discussed next ideas. We have some work coming along on the subject of hope. It looks as though there'll be some poems and maybe some short fiction.

I mentioned that one of our group died recently. Her family have agreed that we can post some of her work here. I'll post an image of one of her pieces and will put it in alt text too. Not sure if this is the best way so any advice would be welcome.

Christmas and flu conspired to keep us silent for the last few weeks. Never mind, getting back to normal now. We'll be getting together again next week so can start posting more.

We've been discussing the features of prose poetry and playing with that. This led on to exploring haibun. All good fun and it looks as though there are some interesting pieces developing.

Sadly one of our group died recently. I am in the process of editing her wonderful short memoir pieces and plan to pass them on to her family. We miss her and her quirky sense of humour but it's lovely to have her words. Re-reading her work has been a delight.

Next week we're thinking of investigating and playing with a new poetic form. We've played with various forms, cinquain, naani, haiku etc. Now we want a new challenge. Anyone got any suggestions?

I like this. It reminds me of so many similar situations of revisiting the past.

Just had our first session since joining. So much to talk about. Planned an outing for afternoon tea to St Mary's Guildhall in a couple of weeks. Yumyum!
We've been writing about emotions and today explored puzzlement and bewilderment. Some interesting ideas came up.

This is beautiful. Reminds me of Seamus Heaney Blackberry Picking - another wonderful piece.
Happy birthday!
❛ The blackberries gleam like glass, / like the glass ornaments / we hang on trees in December / to remind ourselves to be grateful for snow.

We had to share this beautiful poem by Margaret Atwood, who turns 85 today! Happy birthday! #OTD

The light is on for Sharon Suzuki-Martinez!

Read her brilliant and electrifying "Desert Cicadas Haibun" right now on the site!

"Desert Cicadas Haibun" was originally published in 2009, and we're so happy to bring it to a new audience.

It’s a Sunday afternoon in July, so the cicadas are out merrymaking in the mesquite trees off our balcony.
