The Witch’s Lantern Level: 1d6 Form: A simple Jack O’Lantern lit from within by a carved candle with a sickening green flame. Effect: Ghosts, Demons, and other evil spirits of the Lantern’s level are pulled into and trapped within the lantern for as long as it is lit. Depletion: 1 in 1d10 (on depletion, all trapped spirits are released) Lantern Wraith 4 (12) Occasionally, a Witch’s Lantern burns just a little too long. The spirits trapped within animate the carved pumpkin, sprouting a body of vines and shambling about into the night to unleash their pent-up wrath. Motive: Sew discord, chaos, and unleash its wrath Health: 12 Damage: 4 Amor: 0 (5 against Intellect Damage) Movement: Short Combat: A lanter Wraith lashes out with its vine-like arms, making two attacks against one or more targets. Additionally, a lantern wraith has the following ability: We are FREE: When a lantern wraith is slain, the candle extinguishes, and all captured spirits are released. Interaction: The spirits trapped within the lantern are in such anguish that they cannot think or interact logically. Use: The PCs are seeking the wisdom of a witch when one of her warding Witch’s Lanterns awakens into a lantern wraith. The Star That Gazes Back A DANGER FOR MÖRK BORG If you look to the stars one night and find a favored constellation one light richer than you remembered: LOOK AWAY. A horrible parasite lingers in the night sky, seeking to draw the eye of stargazers and enter down the optic nerve, latching upon the flesh of the cerebellum. The thing fascinates the gazer, becoming first an object of curiosity, next a site of adoration, and finally a new god to worship. At night you can see its mark upon the victims if you look closely: a golden strand of thread, impossibly thin, emerging from the eye and stretching up into the clouds. Those thus infested make their bodies ready to be crucibles for the birthing of starspawn, eggs already growing somewhere behind the eyes.

The basilisks dare not name it, ancient thing, cold and terrible. Spoken or no, it’s name is DRAGON, and its coming heralds the end of all things. D6 Wurm Signs 1. Objects begin to rest on an invisible surface six inches above the ground 2. Grift sinks into the sea. 3. All printed text becomes scrolls of power. 4. The dead march from Graven-Tosk in a procession to the sea. 5. Verhu and Gorgh come to Galgenbeck, death preceding and following them. 6. The sun sets and does not rise.

#MÖRKTOBER in Cypher System Day 29: Hole. I wanted to go big with this one. Normal Cpher System doesn't normally go past ten, but a black hole is more than impossible to escape.
Bottled Singularity Level: 13 Form: A swirling black shape surrounded by a vibrant accretion disk. The entire thing is encased in a heavily warded glass jar. Effect: You throw the bottle, which shatters against the ground. The singularity contained within the jar rapidly expands to fill an immediate distance across. Anything and Anyone who fails a Might Defense Roll within a very long distance of the singularity is drawn a short distance towards the singularity each round. Creatures and objects that are pulled into the singularity drop one step down the damage track each round they remain within the singularity. For NPCs drawn into the singularity, see “NPCs and Special Damage” (CSR page 219). The singularity persists for a minute before disappearing, depositing anything it had contained in a shattered heap. #MÖRKTOBER Day 28: Bloat. I was tempted to do a bloated corpse, but that seemed a bit on the nose, so I went with something even more terrifying!
Demons like contracts. Everyone knows that, right? What everyone doesn’t know, or at least doesn’t tell you, is how ghastly demonic contracts are. When I first laid eyes upon that contract, it was gruesome, but not abhorrent. The parchment was clearly made from mortal flesh, and the ink was a deep crimson. I had seen worse. The horror began when I sat down to read the contract; I wasn’t going to be caught unaware, after all. The contract was one of the most dense and bloated I had ever read. The text was filled with footnotes, cross-references, and endlessly overcomplicated phrases. But what was truly horrific was the physical bloat. The contract grew as I read it; new pages grew out of old pages like a cancerous blight. It was truly impossible to know the terms to which I was agreeing until after I signed.
