Around 2PM, I entered the store. The entrance has a lot of candy displayed in exhibition shelves and some fridges with drinks. That Is their "Kiosco" section which is what we usually call quick stop type places.

So I had a day off from work today. Figured "Eh, I should go to that card game store I bookmarked like two years ago." And so I did... After awkwardly killing time while waiting for someone else to show up who I throught we agreed to meet up in GBA (he never came bc I misunderstood)

The mermaids summon an HM05 Waterfall to transport Jack somewhere else.
The mermaids appear to summon something. A whirlpool appears right in front of Jack. Jack gives his word and says that if anything happens to his friends, he will cut the heads of the mermaids. Moroven assures Jack that nothing will happens to them as he jumps inside the whirlpool.

Jack attempts speaking reason and sparks up the idea of a deal. Freedom for him and his friends... In exchange for a treasure that sounds most familiar.
Jack attempts to negotiate with the mermaids only to get menaced with tridents again. The leader tells the other mermaids to stop. Jack reveals his offer of him and all his friends begin let go. The leader then says that he should offer something of equal value. With her first response begin His whole treasure. Jack then points out how his treasure isn't with him right now. But the leader points out the sleeve of Cortés's sword.

Jack seems to not mind the face eating creatures right next to him even if his gun Is useless because he Is so hecking badass that he could probally kill them all.

Also I really like the panel where a mermaid acts smarmy.
The mermaid leader points out how Jack's gun is very wet and reveals they have Arabella as a hostage. Jack remarks how strong he is. The leader remarks about Jack's well speaking manners, and Jack then says he could beat them all but won't because of the hostages at risk. Jack saying he wouldn't like for both him and the mermaids to suffer while a half transformed mer says "Would you really punch me?" with a sad face.

The mermaids seem to kidnap Arabella as Jack desceds further. Waking up in a mysterious cave.
The mermaids grab Arabella and drag her further down. Jack then starts losing even more air. Jack noticed that the mermaids are making a whirlpool that pulls everyone down. He then faints as we cut to a mysterious cave. Jack wakes up in a sort of cave. He first assumes it's hell, then a voice from afar welcomes him to their "Kingdom". To which Jack jokes about not asking for an invitation.

Why the discount?: Well one, it was probally there since last year as there's a 2024 trademark (The original came out in 2007. That's just the year of the localized and translated LATAM spanish print) and two... it's sunfaded as shit.

So it originally retailed for about 6k pesos (or 4 dollars basically) but I managed to nab it at 2k (Barely above 1 dollar). Full disclosure: I have only seen Stranger Tides... When I was 8 years old. I consider that film to be my genesis of my merfolk obssesion.

So I was doing my job router today and stopped by a newspaper stand. Which in my country they practically survive by selling newspapers to old people and merch that just HAPPENS to include a book with it. They had this on the front and I flipped it only to see a mention of Mermaids, I was hooked.
