IDing and behavior monitoring sound the most fun to me! I can imagine you'd need a lot of experience with the whales for the IDing though. As professionals, how often do you have to check an ID guide to know who is who? Or can you almost always ID from experience?

Whoever drew T49A6 'Charlie II', you just made me research the T49s on OBI's website (about time too!). I love that I have only just really gotten into following Biggs 18 months ago (being they were the first and only orcas I saw!). There's always a new family to fascinate me. A world of discovery!

I was listening to southern resident orcas monday on a hydrophone, it sounded like they were shouting over the boats, I cant imagine that all day. And they have heavy boat restrictions. Boat noise is not talked about enough particularly for cetaceans relying on echolocation to hunt.

Irrawaddy dolphins are cool! I find them having an asymetrical blowhole fascinating, and they are closely related to orcas!

If this is true, then I can save money on plane tickets! I see this as a win.

When was the last K pod sighting before this? In my head it was during CWR's survey in July, have they been seen between then and now?

Thanks for posting about this. Im going to cover this in my next podcast. I was shocked that no-one else is reporting this! More people need to be made aware of the horrific effects these parks have on these beautiful intelligent animals.
