Doing away with the protection of “parachuting” into the Europa League and the Conference League adds a degree of jeopardy too which I like. If you’re not good enough, you don’t go any further. It’s a system that actually works well. It’s reinvigorated the competition for me.

Good to see some of the so-called bigger teams haven’t quite found it as easy to negotiate and have to play extra play-off games in order to progress. You can complain about generosity of fixtures and scheduling but you can only beat what’s in front of you.
