This is bad news for New Zealand publishing as a whole (though unnecessarily mean about Grace Thomas). It will shrink the number of NZ books published, and weaken the industry as a whole, and Claire is a big loss.

Yes, we’re closing – but it’s a decision we’re at peace with. We have loved owning GOOD BOOKS. But the economic environment has been very tough lately – & after a lot of discussion, we’ve decided to err on the side of caution & close under our own terms. ❤️ - Jane & Catherine

The complete arrogance of thinking of a new ending to a hugely successful book, emailing it to the publisher and instructing them to forward it to the author! (thought is free, it’s what follows that is arrogant). We won’t be doing that mate, no matter how much it might ‘please you’.
