Brexit: “that great victory for the sovereign right to cock things up”… give ourselves food poisoning, lose control, swamp ourselves in red tape, pay more for stuff and stubbornly isolate ourselves from our own continent…

A relentless, ruinous stupidity.

My dog has a Dutch passport. My kids have a Dutch passport. I am the only member of my family without a Dutch passport. Was this what Brexit was for? Dogs having more rights than humans? It’s more likely Brits will vote to make it legal to marry your pet than to reverse Brexit. Say yes to Dogsit.

Come north with me this evening for another wonderful episode of Digging for Britain - where we’ll dig into a civil war story at Bishop Auckland, delve into clues to a Roman crime and find out how ancient DNA is transforming our understanding of disease in the Middle Ages.

In early 2020, a pandemic was spreading. The UK’s PM went on a 10 day half-term holiday during which he was uncontactable and the government went into panic mode, focusing, as Hancock related to the COVID enquiry, on buying enough body bags. 1/8

“The report said UK trade policy had been “muddled” and “rudderless” since the 2016 Brexit vote, adding that since leaving the EU single market and customs union, efforts to strike mini-deals with non-EU countries had run their course”

Brexit - so tediously crap.

We did loads this year…
We kicked out the Tories, we called out the ruinous idiocy of Brexit, we exposed the liars and the grifters, we’ve caused an almighty tantrum in the rightwing press and the Tory MPs that survived are losing their shit in opposition…
Let’s keep going in 2025. Happy New Year!
