At its core, democracy is dialogue. It’s ok to test justifiable views; they can handle civil debate. Let’s avoid the American experience; let’s keep talking.

John Locke, whose thoughts helped shape the American Constitution (Second Treatise, para. 202): “Where-ever Law ends, Tyranny begins, if the law be transgressed to another’s harm…[and a tyrant] acting without Authority, may be opposed, as any other Man, who by force invades the Right of another.”

@aoc.bsky.social Hello Ms. Orcasio-Cortez; I’m a Canadian but I applaud your tenacious efforts to communicate your and your constituents’ views. This is why we have democracies - so that disagreement is resolved via discussion, as long as that may take.

I’m very proud to be Canadian. I love my country and the national community we have created together - and that is a community of communities. Our strength is our acceptance and embracing of each other. Canada is a liberal democracy, where we all work together. And this is worth fighting for.
