When my child was in 8th grade she wanted to do a report on this book. She was told no by her teacher because the subject matter wasn't appropriate for the age group. I guess if you don't talk about racism it doesn't exist? This is such a good book!

There is no reason for a 10 year old to be interviewed like this after such a traumatic event. I am left wondering what the parent and reporter were thinking to allow this. I wouldn't even wish this situation on an adult.
