I’ve had a week off and decided to try something different. I’m trying my hand at capturing some family memories inspired by #MCM life. Growing up we liked to spend time at the lake. My Dad would drive the boat and pull us kids on skis and wakeboards. This #oilpainting tries to capture those times.

Raising money for Ukraine. I have a few prints of one of my original paintings that I am selling for $40 each with 100% of proceeds going to a charity supporting those in need in Ukraine. If you live in the Edmonton area and are interested, then DM me.

After today’s events in the Oval Office I feel like I need to share a piece of art I created years ago that inspired me to create more paintings in a similar style in support of aid for Ukraine. Ukraine is on the front line of the fight for our values of liberty & freedom & they need our support.

Sometimes when one sign isn’t clear enough. Why not add a second sign. That should do it.

Saw one of nature’s most remarkable animals yesterday in Costa Rica. We met the 2 and 3 fingered #sloth. They can live 30 yrs, have an 11 month gestation and never go into menopause. They have a super efficient use of energy and poop once a week when they dump about 2kg of 💩 and 1 litre of urine.

Spent the day visiting Panama City. Yesterday we were in another Spanish colonial town of Cartagena Columbia. Both have great old town centres. A slice of Europe on this side of the pond.

The amazing thing about visiting places is discovering the unexpected. We expected great beaches as that is what #Aruba is famous for. What we didnt expect was to find this bar called #ApotekSpeakeasy at the end of our day. We enjoyed a great cocktail before heading over to Lucy’s for fish burgers

As we pull out to sea all is calm but knowing all too well the turmoil we leave behind as this world seems to be goong through a bit of a tantrum right now. Take care folks.

My first painting of an Iris & it’s surprisingly challenging. Realizing its a very busy flower. Lots going on. Finding a balance btw having it look visually cluttered or taking some creative licence to tone it down in areas is key. I’m feeling like we’re close now. #canadianart #botany #Art

So here it is. Definitely brings out the colour of the flower. Now to build up the layers of paint on the flowers. #art #canadianart #botanicals

Decided the background conflicts with the foreground so taking the big step and changing it to a light blue. Separately I like the background but it doesnt work with the complexity and colour of the foreground flower so here goes! Stay tuned to see how this turns out. #Canadianart #botanicals #art

So I figure many of you are up and awake after your wild New Years Eve revelry? So here is a ditty of a #NewYears2025 greeting we recorded during COVID lockdowns. So from the great white north of Canada to you all may 2025 bring you all the best you could wish for and more!

So for Christmas @scotiasinger.bsky.social tried something different. More like chiropractic treatment for turkeys but it was Spatchcocking where thru wizardry said bird is flattened out. Why you ask? Cooked in 1/2 time with even cooking as more of the surface area of the bird is closer to the heat.

Just back from our candlelight service at church. Every year we try to NOT light each other on fire as candles are lit and passed through the pews while we sing Silent Night. We’ve probably been doing this for 20 years and it mever gets old. Click the image to get the full panorama.

It's Day 24 of #ArtAdventCalendar and that means just one more sleep and one more post tomorrow. Don't worry I will still be around and posting new work and stuff in the new year. So stick around.

The holidays can be a busy time and everyone needs time for a recharge including apparently one of our #cats

I don’t generally like to drag myself out of bed too early but with my wife’s urging I luckily did that day. While staying in the #Jasper in mid September we woke up to a first snow. Early enough in the season for the lake to not be frozen provided for an amazing photo opp! #ArtAdventCalendar Day 23

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 22. Happy Sunday everyone! Anyone up for a walk in the dunes? This painting is inspired by a visit to #PEI #CavendishBeach

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 21 Here’s a redo from the beginning of this month’s posts. On this shortest day of the year as the sun barely clears the trees before settling down for the night. Tomorrow the sun begins its long journey north and the promise of summers flowers returning.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 20 So I’ve logged off work for one last time in 2024. Looking forward to Christmas activities & RnR. So starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel for new posts so here’s another holiday photo from #DinasourProvincialPark in 2015. We did a guided golden hour photographer walk

Im digging back a few years for today’s #ArtAdventCalendar Day 19. This #oiloncnvas is inspired by visits to the North Sea coast in #TheNetherlands and the town of #Katwijk and #Noordwijk Also #PEI

Lately we seem to have lots of political storms but here's a more traditional kind. #oiloncanvas depicts afternoon storm with sun shining behind it making it look like it's on fire. The good thing about storms, both political or traditional, they are only here for awhile. #ArtAdventCalendar Day 18

#ArtAdventCalendar Day 17 This field is now a subdivision with houses and cul de sacs. It sits at the end of a road close to my sister’s home. She often stopped to admire it on her walks. She asked me to capture the image in an oil painting which now hangs on her wall as a moment frozen in time
