It's a high bar, but this from @radleybalko.bsky.social might be one of the most fucked up things I've read in the new Trump era. For context, this TX lawyer had just had an informal conversation with a family caught up in ICE raids.

Don’t let this administration take away your joy. Yes, what they’re doing is wrong and terrifying, but don’t let them take away the one thing that’s yours. Surround yourself with community. Do things you love. Yes, things look bleak, and you also need joy. Don’t let them take that away.

I just finished DEATH OF THE AUTHOR by Nnedi Okorafor and it was brilliant! Literary, ambitious & engaging, I can't recommend it enough.

Also, I'm getting this quote tattooed on my ribcage or stitched in a sampler:

”Tomorrow is where my hope lives. I can't be normal, so I'll be something else."

I see every new piece of art or fiction as a small miracle. We live in a society where most people’s time is eaten up just trying to survive and pay the bills. We are told art has little value. Yet artists persevere and still find ways to create. That’s incredible.
