New paper in ESD (esd.copernicus.org/articles/16/...) showing duration of overshoot matters for preventing climate systems from tipping. Crossing a tipping point does not equal tipping. Risk reduced if overshoot duration beyond 1.5 °C kept below a century. @coxypm.bsky.social @gsiexeter.bsky.social

We will overshoot 1.5°C of global warming, that is quite certain…but it’s not game over. The damage will be real — species loss, food insecurity, climate chaos — but if we act fast, we can still bring temperatures back down.
