Christ alive! I’m getting married in *30 days hath Sep…* 60 days. Should probably order the party triangles.

550km knocked off this year already, and finally - finally - some weight is beginning to inch away. Thank God for that. Didn’t help we’ve been away 4 times, and a lot of beer was consumed 👀

The ‘Revolutions’ podcast from Nick Duncan is just a work of magic. The season(s) on the French Revolution are not only incredible for a detailed narrative, but delivered with wit and sass. Outstanding. 10/10.

Another 5 miles in the bag today. I really got into a groove today: the chassis is creaking, the body is in need of repair, but the engine is purring. Last week’s 4-in-a-row really blew the cobwebs off.

Always had this thing when writing songs, that the central idea all stems from the same moment, and the lyrics sort of make sense. But now I find myself pinching lines from different ideas and seeing them together, because they ‘feel’ like they belong together. Weird, this creative thing, innit?

Irishman here. Frequent visitor to the US, never had any issues with documentation or authorities. Experienced traveller with plenty of “oh shit” moments, an ‘ignore the hype’ kind of person. But even I’m starting to feel uneasy about going back - it’s unsettling.

6 runs in 8 days, including the last 4 days in a row. Why is it that the third day is always the worst? Yesterday was agony and yet today - as has always been the case - was probably the best of them: a little fatigue for sure, but no stiffness, free and easy-ish. #running #training

Crossed the 300km for the year today. Jesus lads, I might just be on the way back.

It appears a lot of you don’t understand tariffs 🙄

Back to more chirping about this and that later, but I ran 5+ miles for the second day in a row. I haven’t done that in almost 3 years. Good rhythm, good pace (for a fat kid) - progress.

After two weeks away doing nothing but indulging my gluttonous impulses, I’m back on the wagon with my annual challenge. When I was really fit, a couple of years bank, I completed it by April. That won’t happen this year, but at least I’m trending in the right direction.

Sitting in ‘An Sibín’ - location undisclosed - waiting for Maz, listening to ‘On A Friday’ whilst getting lit on the tastiest IPA I’ve ever had. Is it a ‘Hall of Fame’ Friday night? No. Is it still wonderful? Absolutely.

Much love to all those back home getting ready to be battered by #StormEowyn - stay safe, and follow the guidance. Better safe than sorry.

There are many aspects of modern life I dislike, but sorting out all your possessions in preparation for moving house is absolutely at the top.

Finally back in the groove today, with a solid 6 miles. The chassis is creaking under two years of beer and pizza, but the engine is ticking over nicely. Must keep at it.

Six years, eh? That’s wild. Rather considerate to avoid my birthday.

I think we’re just stuck in the Age of the Arsehole. I guess they come and go, and the hope that we’d learn from our mistakes, even those in living memory appears to have been false. Ah well, might as well stick the kettle on.

That’s a pretty decent start for a fat fella such as myself. #running

That’s 50km in the bag and we’re only 6 days into the new year. Not bad for a fat fella.

After yesterday’s total write-off, it’s back to running in the rain. Eurgh.

Bathing a dog that doesn’t want to be bathed is not the Saturday night you want, but it’s the Saturday night I have.

I’m on the bus, cruising through empty streets in what is usually rush hour. The light in the bus keeps flickering on and off, as I’m listening to ‘Bullet The Blue Sky’. It’s unsettling without being terrifying; melancholic but without sadness.
