If Spoony cared about Long Covid, why is no one wearing a mask during the podcast recording? Long Covid can only be prevented by mitigating the spread of Covid. This disconnect, particularly on #internationallongcovidawarenessday, is pretty astonishing. If you can, @ mention spoonyapp on Twitter/X.

I have heard it said
that the unnerving scenes
of hospitals overwhelmed
with cases of pneumonia
are not a result
of some strange new virus
but are instead a result
of lingering damage
from the virus we’re living with
and I confess I am unsure
if that makes me feel any better.

“Infection with the coronavirus is known to leave behind a long legacy of health problems, many of which are characterized as long Covid. But mounting evidence suggests that the coronavirus also befuddles the immune system into targeting the body, causing autoimmune disorders in some people.”
How Viral Infections Cause Long-Term Health Problems
In a few patients, the immune system becomes misdirected, attacking the body instead of the virus.

It's true that one of the benefits of this faulty logic is that unmasked people will keep their distance if they think you have COVID. But if they are still worried about COVID, it's so strange that they aren't wearing a mask in the first place.

Yes, it's true that it's good practice to wear a mask if you have COVID and you absolutely need to go somewhere (it's still better to stay home). But it's broken logic to think that it's the only situation where people need to still wear a mask.
